Marriages in VRChat are in some ways similar to marriages in real life, uniting two (or more) people in some way but that's usually where the similarity ends.
Getting married in VRChat is mostly a pretend arrangement that might last just a couple of seconds to months or (very rarely) years. Being an in-game only thing it is best not to take a VR wedding too seriously.
VRChat weddings are often a form of roleplaying.
As of Feb 2020 there are no reports yet of an actual IRL marriage being officiated in VRChat but it has happened in other VR games.[1]

- The roleplayer GreatKhan is known for having officiated countless weddings in VRChat and joked about getting an actual marriage license.
- Roflgator has a tradition of doing "circle pits" during all weddings he's involved in. This means interrupting when the vows are made, playing loud metal music and running in a circle.
- One of the most known weddings in VRChat may be that of the roleplayers Chipz and Nuts in 2018 which reached famous proportions when it was documented in the game news magazine Polygon.[2]
