VRChat Infinite RP, also known as Infinite RP or simply The Infinite, refers to a narrative framework for freeform roleplay and improvisation in VRChat. Unlike the more structured Metaverse, The Infinite has no central timeline, universal canon, or designated hub. Its lack of structure is what gives it its name.
Not all types of freeform roleplay classify as Infinite RP unless specified.
What is the Infinite?[]
The Infinite represents a limitless collection of universes (commonly referred to as "worlds") each with its own geography, history, laws, and tone. Some operate on science, others on magic, and some on unexplainable forces entirely.
Characters within The Infinite may or may not be aware of other worlds. Travel between them is often possible through various means, from high-tech portals to ancient gateways.
The Infinite has no central hub. No single governing body, timeline, or continuity that exists across all worlds. Each universe stands on its own, though all are part of The Infinite. Some are open to visitors; others are hostile or isolated.
While many worlds tend to align loosely with the real-world calendar, others diverge entirely, set in far-off futures, forgotten pasts, or completely abstract realities.
The Infinite is not a group or community. It's an open-ended idea that encompasses anything within or adjacent to VRChat where roleplay can happen. Whether it's a massive ongoing storyline, a spontaneous moment in a public world, or a private scene among friends, it can all fall under The Infinite. There are no prerequisites, no required lore, and no singular method of participation. If a story is told, if characters have intention, if a world feels alive, then it can exist within The Infinite.
