The Culling is an ancestral and sacred vampire ritual that those who have been deemed worthy must attend. Chipz and Victor were summoned to the Culling during Year 1 via Blood Stones, and were forcibly escorted to the Cliffs of Faust by Llynn to attend.

All The Lonely People[]
After Llynn's abrupt retrieval of Victor and Chipz, the vampires traveled through the Dark Lands to the Gates of Faust. During the travel, Chipz learned of Llynn's status as a powerful, knowledgeable, and highly regarded elder vampire of their society. She also spoke to him of her mindset that vampires are Shepherds, telling Chipz that their powers should be used to guide the humans towards a path of no destruction.
Upon their arrival to Faust, Llynn warns the two vampires that Faust is neutral grounds; no battles of any kind can occur on grounds without penalty. The three vampires enter the castle and are greeted with a dark and dreary interior, illuminated by the glistening purple lights. As the three walk through the castle's entrance, many vampires are seen conversing amongst each other. The three come across two vampires, an elder vampire named Tarnick, and a half-blood named Ves, who have yet to introduce themselves. Llynn tells Chipz that she may acquaint him with them later, as she must lead the young vampires to their quarters.
As Llynn leads them to their rooms, they meet two romantically involved vampires, Aldric and Viktoria Naust, who are surprised to see a half-blood taking the Culling Trial. Viktoria asks if Chipz is strong enough to pass the trail, to which he replies, "We'll see." Chipz excuses himself and enters his quarters with Victor. As they settle down in their room, Victor warns Chipz of the vampires residing in the castle. Vampires of different status, beliefs, and views have all settled down within Faust, some of whom detest and look down upon half-bloods. Chipz reminds Victor that his status wasn't of his choosing, to which Victor replies, that regardless of his choice, there are some who will discriminate against him.
