Palm Plaza Mall is a series of vaporwave themed virtual mall worlds created by theycallhimcake in VRChat. It is divided up in to a series of wings which each have their own unique theme or reason for existing, all being connected via world portals. Visitors are encouraged to explore the malls to find these portals as some are less obvious than others.

Another feature of the malls is that many of them have multiple versions of the same area. These variations include elements such as: being run down, being completely dead and abandoned, neon versions which usually feature more stores, changes in the time of day, and more.

Across each mall world there is also a different themed stores to explore, and many are consistent worlds with minor variations. Examples of such stores are: Media Fun Arcade, Frannie Funbun's, Cutie Burger, Child Sized Dufflebag, and Dolphin.

The malls also feature their own lore which is loosely scattered throughout the malls, most of which can be found in run down versions in which graffiti placed on the walls tend to give hints towards the nature of the mall.

Locations[]

Main Plaza[]

The main plaza is the entrance to the majority of Palm Plaza Mall. It features multiple portals placed in easy to find areas. It acts as a starting hub to allows visitors to begin their journey around Palm Plaza Mall.

Memphis Village[]

Memphis Village is meant to resemble a more realistic mall. Its primary features are multiple levels as well as Picnic Square, the mall's primary food court.

Starlight Plaza[]

Starlight Plaza is a simple and relaxing world featuring a large mirror going across the centre of it. It also features the most holiday themed variations of all the worlds.

Sunset Square[]

Sunset Square is a small but dense world, and appears to be the official entrance to the mall. It boasts the most variations of any mall world, notably both run down and "New" versions. Sunset Square also acts as a greater hub world which links to every location in the mall, but isn't placed spatially relevant like they are in other worlds. As an entrance to it can be found in most of the plazas, it is considered to be of particular significance.

サイバー Dreams Plaza (Cyber Dreams Plaza)[]

A "VR Mall inside of a VR Mall", Cyber Dreams Plaza is a surreal section of the mall that was made to resemble retro computing, gaming, and anime, and features very strong influences from vaporwave album art. Notable sections include a main area, a Sailor Moon inspired city path, and a zen garden food court.

The Oasis[]

The Oasis is an island experience that allows you to experience what it's like to have a vacation inside a vaporwave album cover. Despite having no stores, it is still a part of the mall.

Forgotten Plaza[]

Forgotten Plaza is a dark and abandoned section of the mall that features a playground in the center of it. While relatively small at first glance, it's layout is not quite what it seems.

People[]

Mallspawn[]

Mallspawn refers to a type of creature that resides inside Palm Plaza Mall, usually taking the form of a white rabbit-like being with pink hair. While it is rare to see one in person, iconography and depictions of them can be found throughout the malls. Mallspawn are magical beings, and are essentially the residents and caretakers of Palm Plaza Mall. While they typically do not leave the mall, some have found comfort in leaving and exploring other worlds.

Mascots[]

Mascots are similar to Mallspawn in that they are creatures that reside within the malls, though they are fundamentally different in that they appear to be humanoids wearing exaggerated mascot suits based on actual Mallspawn (most often Butter). They are generally harmless, only seeming to be interested in telling people to visit Palm Plaza Mall (regardless of whether or not that person is currently in the mall.) While Mascots originate from Palm Plaza Mall, they tend to wander outside to other locations.

Shoppers[]

A shopper is simply a person who has found their way in to the mall. They are welcome to stay as long as they want and can leave whenever they desire. they are often categorized as Window Shoppers or Mallwalkers, depending on how often/long they choose to visit.

Trivia[]

  • A common visual trend in Palm Plaza is pink and blue neon stripes following the edges of walls and pillars. From this, you can always tell when you're specifically in a Palm Plaza area.
