Origin[]
Olm was born and raised on Hellion, she enjoyed the life of luxury in the upper city as part of the Shometsu corp, however she didn't grow up like normal children, it was very quickly revealed that her genetic makeup had caused an autoimmune disease. This disease attacked her own cells and was countered by a joint Shometsu/Avalon project. This project suppressed her body’s ability to replicate the immune system, slowing the disease to a near standstill without needing further treatments. With her body left vulnerable, Shometsu quickly began R&D and created an Environmental suit for her. This ultimately ended up leading to Olm’s interest in R&D and allowing Shometsu to test ideas on her.
She continued working with R&D whenever possible, wasn't paid for it but she didn't need to be, being more of an intern anyway. Because of this she aided a man, named Doctor Crowly, and she came up with an idea to help aid deep sea divers off-planet. This system started with a simple liquid that was breathable. Initial tests were failures but she had to learn from experience not to panic when liquid filled her lungs. Inhaling oxygen enriched liquids from installed pumps and tubes to keep flow rate up, a heater to stop the rapid onset of hypothermia, and a CO2 scrubber to keep it rich. This project was a success in the end and became Olms new way of breathing. It was also more sanitary.
The research continued, but at this point Olm had now reached 15 years old and had started working on her own projects. Dr. Crowly helping her here and there, she had begun to design a system to increase the uptime on stealth units and cloaking technology. She named it the the Void Signature System. This project was a long time in the making, while having hiccups and bumps here and there, with Crowlys help and Shometsu’s assets she was able to make it successful and integrate it into her suit. Unfortunately her pursuits were not to come of fruition or see the light of day yet. When her project was seemingly finished she was called into a board meeting which was unusual for her. There it was revealed to her that her parents had been misappropriating corporate assets and in retribution an honor duel fought. If her father won then the charges would be dropped but if she lost then that section of the family would be exiled and expunged from the records. This duel, Olm watched her father lose. Unprepared she found herself dropped into the southern Row with not even a name to herself.
Quickly taken in by a local blacksmith and taught the craft she learned to fend for herself. Given a new identity under the name of Olm Makker. Unknown to others, she kept her old ID as well. A memento of resentment towards Shometsu for her. She worked in the blacksmith for quite some time before finally moving out onto her own. There she starting up her own smithy and was successful enough to stay afloat. Misfortune beared it's teeth and reared its ugly head yet again when Shometsu’s cought eye of her work yet again. Perhaps it was luck or they recognized the craftsmanship. Whatever the reasons, a representative of the corporation came down and introduced himself as a member of security, and on behalf of security wished to purchase the rights to her forge. Of course she could continue working there if she wished but Olm refused. She stating that she wanted nothing to do with the corps on Hellion. This response did not please the man, who promptly thanked her for her time and left. Minutes later a synth walked into the shop and detonated itself before she could act. This explosion was not enough to destroy the building entirely but damaged her machinery and tools, sending them flying. A rod found its way through her mask and into her skull above her right eye, the blast forcing her off the ground and ragdolled into some machinery. Torn from its mounts and flying in the air, the impact broke a large number of her bones. Still alive from sheer luck and thanks to her liquid breathing. After this a firefight erupted in the streets outside. ReUnion operatives had been stationed nearby and engaged the Corp forces. Managing to drive them away while the Wyverns stepped in and collected Olms broken body. Rushing her to a hospital Olm was treated. Her eye managing to be saved with no sign of brain damage. Once stabilized they transferred her to the Row clinic, where she stayed for 6 months to heal. Her disorder kicked off another infection, springing up from the suit breach. In this time nobody was able to speak to her face to face. A few of the Wyverns stopped by to check in on her from time to time. A message was left from an unknown man which the doctors described as "wearing a mask that looked as if you were staring into the nights sky" and wearing "large gauntlet encased fists". All the message said was simply “when you are released, seek out the gunsmith.”
History[]
Traits[]
Edges[]
- Major - Void Signature Systems - Cloaking tech increase
- Minor - Nobody looks up - EV suit is equipped with a Jumpjet pack
Flaws[]
- Major - Iron Maiden - Scorch lives inside of an Environmental suit, this suit if ruptured could cause her weak immune system to allow major infections in, thus requiring more medical supplies to treat.
- Minor - System overload - Scorch’s suit, if hit by plasma/energy based weaponry can overload and shutdown her life support system, forcing her to take the helmet off and cough up the perfluorocarbons in her lungs, this risks triggering the Iron Maiden detriment.
