History and Biography[]
Life Before VR Chat[]
Before joining VRChat on May 30, 2023, Norelock was navigating a challenging phase in life. Battling depression and mental health difficulties, combined with the daily friction of living with ADHD, he found himself distanced from a sense of stability and peace. Routine tasks felt overwhelming, and day-to-day life seemed muted, drained of the colors that once made it meaningful. Despite being surrounded by others, he often felt isolated, like an outsider who couldn't quite tune into the same frequency as those around him.
Connection was hard to come by. Although he was often around people, Norelock felt a deep sense of invisibility—a feeling that went beyond loneliness. He was searching for a space where he could exist without the weight of judgment, where he could express himself freely and connect with others on a genuine level.
On May 30, Norelock entered VRChat, not just as an escape from his daily struggles, but as an opportunity to step into a new reality—a place where he could explore his identity in ways that felt true to him. VRChat offered him the freedom to express parts of himself that were often hidden or misunderstood in the physical world. His presence there wasn’t about gaming or casual entertainment; it was about rediscovering a sense of belonging, of seeing and being seen.
Norelock found the chance to rewrite his story, creating a version of himself that was more in tune with the person he always wanted to be.
First Steps Into VR Chat[]
When Norelock first entered VRChat on May 30, 2023, he was stepping into a world of unknown possibilities. Initially looking for a place where he could connect and explore freely, he soon discovered the LPD, or Local Police Department (formerly known as the Loli Police Department) roleplay group. Joining the LPD gave Norelock a structured environment and purpose within VRChat, providing him with a community that valued teamwork, camaraderie, and immersive roleplay. It was his first real involvement in VRChat, and it quickly became an anchor for him.
In those early months, Norelock threw himself into the role, taking on LPD missions, learning the ins and outs of the VRChat roleplay scene, and building relationships within the group. The experience allowed him to explore a new side of himself, one that was confident and capable in a way he hadn’t felt in real life. But after six to seven months, as he grew within the VRChat world, he felt the pull to explore beyond the LPD, and he eventually decided to take his leave.
Since then, Norelock has expanded his VRChat presence by getting involved in community festival events. Now, he contributes to large-scale gatherings like Projekt Community and steps up as a DJ for the Omega Group whenever the opportunity arises. These events have given Norelock a fresh way to express himself creatively and connect with others, pushing the boundaries of what he thought was possible in VRChat.
His first steps with the LPD laid the foundation for the Norelock we see today—someone who’s as dedicated to the VRChat community as he is to his own personal growth.
