Monika Karolin Schultheiss's Backstory[]
Monika was born on April 22nd, 1904 in Würzburg, German Empire. Her father was an aspiring writer, and her mother was a known doctor in the town. Monika was sometimes brought to her mother's workplace to observe, though some presume this would have been difficult to watch as a child, Monika instead displayed an unnatural fascination with the human body. She was caught various times dissecting vermin such as squirrels and opossum. She ended up studying under her mother until she turned 14, when her whole life was shaken by the outbreak of the war. With the outbreak of the Great War, Monika felt a duty to her country and to her people. Monika enlisted in 1918 under the false age of 16, when in reality she was still 15 at the time. She figured that by the time she would be at the front, that she'd have already turned 16. She was trained and sent to the 213th Division of the XVI Corps where she served on the Western Front. Monika distinguished herself on the battlefield, as well as in the field hospital. Specifically during an incident where the front lines were pushed back. To help mitigate the assault, Monika jumped on a vacant MG emplacement, the previous user having being killed.
Despite a grenade exploding behind her and sending shrapnel into her back, Monika remained at the post she assumed and assisted in defending the lines and helping prevent a route, thus was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class. Though her injuries left their mark, as she was unable to remain at the front for quite some time. Though eventually she was allowed back, she was placed in the Field Hospital and assisted with treating injured. Later on she was promoted to Hauptmann after the war, and took part in various peacekeeping operations. Though rumors spread that some of her methods were brutal.
