The Miko Police Department (MPD) is a casual VRChat-based police roleplay group founded in November 2019. MPD fosters creativity, community engagement, and structured roleplay within VRChat.

History[]
2019: Founding of MPD[]
- MPD was established in November 2019 as the second police RP group in VRChat, following the Loli Police Department (LPD). - The name "Miko Police" originated from custom avatars created by Sarma, the original founder of LPD. - MPD was the first police RP group to support Quest users, making it more accessible than LPD.
2020: MPD Becomes UPD[]
- January 2020: Mr. Tan was appointed as the first Chief of Police but resigned shortly after, passing leadership to Bunbun (Kindred). - March 2020: MPD rebranded as the United Police Department (UPD) to allow a broader range of avatars beyond the Miko avatars. - UPD became one of the largest police roleplay groups in VRChat, alongside LPD. - July 2020: Sarma left VRChat law enforcement roleplay, marking the end of the original LPD era.
2021: UPD Growth and Decline[]
- UPD had organized patrols, SWAT training, and immersive roleplay scenarios. - July 23, 2021: UPD suffered from declining activity and leadership burnout. - Ownership was transferred to Upliftedkid (UpliftedMax), who attempted to revive the group, but activity remained low.
2022: MPD/UPD Split and Internal Struggles[]
- Early 2022: Kindred and Upliftedkid were pressured into giving MPD to Monfire, leading to internal power struggles. - MPD and UPD factions formed, each claiming to be the rightful successor:
- MPD faction was controlled by Monfire, then later taken over by Dirfine. - UPD faction remained under UpliftedMax but became largely inactive.
- MPD under Dirfine suffered from poor leadership, causing community dissatisfaction.
2023: MPD vs. UPD Clash and Leadership Crisis[]
- December 2023: A major clash between MPD and UPD occurred, leading to mass confusion and internal disputes. - MPD’s reputation suffered, with many members leaving due to instability.
2023–Present: MPD's Revival Under FumikoEcho[]
- August 2023: FumikoEcho officially acquired and copyrighted MPD, restoring its original identity. - New leadership was established, including Morning Fox (Mama Miko). - New avatars and assets were commissioned to modernize MPD. - MPD regained its reputation, becoming one of the leading police RP groups in VRChat again.

MPD On Duty events focus on structured roleplay: - Patrols, investigations, and tactical training. - Hosted by event hosts & command staff. - More information is available on the MPD Discord server.
Off Duty Events[]
MPD Off Duty events provide community bonding: - Karaoke Nights, Movie Nights, and VR Exploration. - Optional and open to all MPD members. - Hosted by registered event hosts.

Command Staff (Highest Leadership)[]
- Chief of Police – Leads MPD, oversees all operations.
- Deputy Chief – Second-in-command, manages department-wide activities.

- Inspector – Leads divisions such as Patrol, SWAT, and Investigations.

Operational Ranks[]
- Corporal – Senior officer assisting leadership.
- Constable First Class – Experienced officer with additional duties.
- Constable – Standard patrol officer.
- Recruit Constable – Trainee officer learning department policies.
Key Differences Between Canadian and U.S. Ranks[]
- Canada uses "Constable" instead of "Officer." - Canadian police use military-style ranks (Superintendent, Inspector, etc.). - Canadian structure is more aligned with the UK, while U.S. police ranks vary by state.
