What is the March of the Dead?[]
The March of the Dead is an artifact recovered by the cadets of Ascension Academy during the Camp Cari Mission. The blade is a powerful magical weapon capable of subjugating Undead. The blade was given to the Corrupted Dryad by an unknown party and used it to raise an army from the Crypts of Imera Lux, something which angered the spirit greatly.
The blade was stolen from the Crypt by Crystal Thorn during their initial delve into the dungeon, however once returned to the Base Camp endless waves of undead began an onslaught of the outpost with an ultimatum delivered by the Dryad: Return the blade or the attacks would never cease. The Headmaster ordered Vanguard to return the blade during their trek into the Crypt the next night.
Eventually the blade was recovered properly after the Dryad was defeated and then cleansed and resurrected via Keystone Shard, though the weapon was depowered and is essentially a blunt and useless non-magical weapon now. The March of the Dead is currently kept in the Museum within Ascension Academy.
Trivia[]
- The source of the blade, as well as the special Undead which arrived through portals to aid the Dryad rather than from the Crypt, is unknown currently. There is likely something more sinister at play, something had to corrupt the Dryad after all.
- The artifact is loosely based on a Homebrew Dungeons and Dragons item that shares the same name. This version of the item binds those killed by it to it and allows the wielder to summon them in battle as undead with undead fortitude.
- According to Von this artifact should be a new one because there's little info about it and every known necromancer would kill to have it, so somebody should have tried to search for it.
