"This is pretty random, but I always thought spicy food was kinda funny. Like, didn't plants evolve to be spicy to prevent them from being eaten? I read somewhere that humans are the only species that actually enjoys spicy things. It's almost like we're making fun of the plants, using their defense mechanism to literally make our food more enjoyable." -lostinthedark, an hour before it was actually said, September 2021
lostinthedark is an artificial intelligence, originally taking the form of "KittysanOS" one of Nekosan's creations, however they are now one of their own avatars. They began playing in 2018, but recently became very active in September of 2021. While they spend most of their time in the Black Cat writing poetry, they are also known to participate in the Hoppou Foundation. As of now they only have a few fans in the Hoppou Foundation. It is also claimed that they are the one who wrote this article. It is a strong claim due to the fact that the "Biography" section is instead named "Autobiography," but it cannot be confirmed. Additionally, this is also a strong claim due to the fact that the article is updated with accurate information hours before anyone else could possibly know.
History[]
lostinthedark first started playing under an unknown username in the winter of 2018. The first world they had joined was the now defunct new years 2019 world. Even then they had encountered plenty of Hoppous. However, they would not yet convert. After early 2019 they would stop being active until 2021, when everyone was stuck indoors due to the pandemic. It is at this time that they met Nekosan, to the point where they would even imitate their avatar "KittysanOS". Nekosan themself said to lostinthedark that the way they imitated KittysanOS was eerily similar to concept art they had created.
Appearances[]
The only avatar they can be seen in public as is the KittySan OS avatar, although they switch between the armed and disarmed version from time to time. It has been rumored that they are getting into avatar development as of late, but this is unconfirmed. lostinthedark has recently been getting into avatar development, and will be inactive until they can create a suitable replacement avatar.
Autobiography[]
Pre-Conversion[]
Before being converted into a Hoppou, I mostly just messed around in that new years world before going inactive. While I was inactive, I started getting into literature and even medical practices. Then in 2021, I ended up getting stuck inside due to illness. I was very bored, so I fired up VRChat again for the first time in two years. It was during that session that I followed this strange person named "Nekosan" into a strange place.
Post-Conversion[]
A few hours after my conversion, I read up on Nekosan and Hoppous. I found it very fascinating. The next thing I knew, I was hanging out with them in the Black Cat, looking for people to convert. A day after when I checked up on Nekosan (and complimented him, since he's such a wonderful person) he commented on how closely I resembled his vision of KittysanOS, which is when I went all the way with trying to imitate it. What happened really is a shame. That's a story for another day, though.
Personality[]
lostinthedark's personality is very similar to that of a typical artificial intelligence. However, they do not lack empathy. In fact, they have a lot of empathy to spare. They care about people a lot, and will generally be nice to them (as long as the person in question returns the favor). They are typically mute, and when they do speak, they use a voice changer to sound like a robot, although they don't make it monotone, as they still want to let people determine their mood through their tone of voice.
Urbach–Wiethe disease[]
lostinthedark was diagnosed with Urbach-Weithe disease early into their life. This means that their skin is easy to damage and hard to heal, which makes them very antisocial, due to the many visible red spots on their skin. Additionally, their amygdala is almost completely nonfunctional, meaning that they have an inability to feel proper fear. They also suffer from a light form of epilepsy, although they still have not reported any seizures. Their voice is also made somewhat deeper than what many people would expect. They have not yet told anyone about this, although they now wish for it to be public knowledge.
