Hoppou Legion was founded in 2017 under the group Salt Squad and later, sometime in early 2018, became an independent group under the leadership of Hory-portier and HoppouLover420 (Formerly KannaLover420), making it one of the oldest Hoppou related groups in VRChat.
Origin[]
Hoppou Legion began as an activity under the Salt Squad group founded and led by Novii where they would steadily gain hoppou members. With time and members such as Hory-portier pushing harder for these events and recruiting more hoppou's to the group, it outgrew what Salt Squad designed it to be.
Eventually, they would break away from Salt Squad, and In 2018, Hory-portier was promoted to be the leader of the new Hoppou Legion group along with HoppouLover420 as the co-leader; this would eventually make Hoppou Legion considered by many to be the 2nd recognised hoppou group in VRChat. What made it different from Project H was that it didn't require being able to create a hoppou avatar of your own. However, due to time limitations, Hory-portier could not commit fully to the group and eventually stepped down, leaving HoppouLover420 to develop and grow Legion, gaining more and more members with time.
Activities[]
Hoppou Legion was originally a raid activity where members would follow a target down and enjoy his/her reactions for hours and often multiple months. Only some of the targets would be selected for conversion, Legion only chose those who they thought were fun to be around and would be a great hoppou. With modern-day Legion, any member can call for a raid if they find someone in the wild who would make a good hoppou.
Currently, they like to casually meet up and hang out in VRChat, Discord, or other games and listen to music or whatever else the members decide to do that day.
Occasionally they continue to host raids and various other kinds of meetups such as world hopping and VR concerts.
Most notably is their long tradition of hosting "Avatar Creation Showcase Events" where members are given a theme and avatar creators from the group create hoppous based on the theme, often inviting their allies, to join and show off at the end of the month to the rest of the communities' members.
The many creators of Hoppou Legion also collaborate together on new Legion worlds and hoppou avatars as spreading creative content is one of their goals.
Alliance Trifecta[]
Hoppou Legion created a raiding alliance with other groups through the years, which they would later name together as their "Alliance Trifecta".
Bunny Squad[]
Under the leadership of Chdata, Bunny Squad was the first group to ally with Hoppou Legion in July 2018. Both groups would join each other in raids, and Bunny squad created a dedicated role within their discord for Hoppou Legion members called "Hoppou Siblings". A "Nanachi Hoppou" was created from this alliance.
They would often host their Avatar Creation Showcase events together, having separate or related themes each month with many crossovers.
Kitten Marching Band[]
In September 2019, the leaders of Kitten Marching Band agreed join the alliance with Bunny Squad and Hoppou Legion. Members from each group would join each other for events, both raiding and social, extending into creating hoppou versions of their avatars. Shortly after this is when the alliance would be referred to as the "Alliance Trifecta".
The Alliance was created so all the groups within the Trifecta could work closely together for events and asset creation, all with the common goal to bring fun and creativity to more people. As it stands the Trifecta is set in stone and the communities agreed to keep it to the 3 of them as a very close alliance of groups.
Notable Events[]
New Base Models[]
After forming their alliance, the three groups worked together to create new, modern, updated base models for their communities to use. Over the next few years, they brought the creators from all three groups together to design a very detailed Nanachi model for Bunny Squad, a new public Mitchiri Neko model for Kitten Marching Band, and finally a new optimized Hoppou model for Hoppou Legion with a slightly different design.
The main modeling and texturing for all three models was done by Hoppou Legion member Malganis Lefay with lots of feedback from the creative teams of all three communities. Each model would later then be used for several crossover creations by creators between the three communities.
Catsgiving With Friends[]
Kitten Marching Band proposed hosting a charity event through the Alliance Trifecta, which would become known as "Catsgiving With Friends". Kitten Marching Band, Hoppou Legion, and Bunny Squad collaborated to host a charity three years in a row, with each group creating models as donation incentives, participating in streams and events which they hosted together, and other activities for the charity.
Abyssal Opera[]
The Abyssal Opera is a world created by Malganis Lefay and was created to showcase the creations made by members of the Alliance Trifecta. It is also used for in-game announcements from time to time. Originally the 3 communities were using a basic map made from simple 3D planes that had each logo within it, but it was replaced by the newer world featuring the main avatars from each community as statues.
VRCon[]
During the VRCons of 2021 - 2022 Hoppou Legion along with its alliance members attended with their own booths, mingling and having fun.
