Who is Gormundr?[]
Gormundr is one of VRChat's first vikings. He has been known for several projects he started such as Gormundr's Greathall, The United Leaders Foundation, and The High Hall. He has also been seen as a guest on several live streams and videos from KuriGames, Ashunera, Shai, Sporkoflove, Lolathon, Meathamski, Satchi, Oblivious, and well as many others.
Out Of Character History[]
Starting off in the early days of VRChat before the boom of January 2018, Gormundr had idea's to change the game one step at a time to bring the player base together, first making a name for himself when founding the Guild of Voice Actors in December 2017.
The Guild of Voice Actors was a group designed for those with significant voice talents and the ability to imitate characters from different forms of media.
From there Gormundr was able to network and branch out as he began meeting other large group leaders of VRChat which led to his inspiration to form 'The United Leaders Foundation', A group equivalent of the UN designed to help all communities come together and bring a sense of connection to the game.
During this time The Guild had taken a large dip in activity due to players moving on to other projects and branching out, and eventually due to lack of activity the ULF soon would follow into another "closed project".
After these times, Gormundr would go quiet until he later resurfaced in the Roleplay community where he now spends most of his time fighting people daily and leading an events group called 'The High Hall'.
Then in 2021 towards the later half of the year, Gormundr volunteered to host an "Election" for the Supreme Leader of VRChat after noticing some inside jokes between Lucifer MStar , Meathamski , and Senpie on twitter about who would be the best hypothetical "Leader of the Metaverse". This election lasted several months and was also hosted by Aemeth . There were 12 candidates that included Perishables (AXL Prime) , CaptPanda , Spencer Filson , F.R.A.N.K.B.O.T. , KuriGames , Lucifer MStar , Meathamski , RUin , Senny Supreme , SenpaiVR , Senpie , and SSBCraft . After months of campaigning, CaptPanda and SSBCraft were in the lead with SSBCraft (Ben-To) Ultimately winning the 'Supreme Leader' election and then finally being sworn into office by Gormundr on January 1st 2022 as Supreme Leader Of The Metaverse .
In Character History[]
Gormundr's main accomplishments begin at the battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, he claims to be present during this event while serving under the Norwegian king Harald Hardrada where he was felled by an English spearman who had been positioned underneath the bridge. This near fatal wound caused him to fall into the river and float downstream where a family of English farmers rescued him despite his Scandinavian heritage. The family nursed him back to health, and in return, he lived with them and learned about their cultures and their religions for almost 2 years. After these two years he moved east to explore what the world had to offer, reaching Russia, India, and then China where he discovered Buddhist temples, home to incredible monks who could achieve incredible feats of strength using nothing but their flesh and unbreakable wills.
He studied with this monastery for the next 50 years where he traveled around China, discovering the secrets of martial arts and meeting men who were several hundreds years old. These men and their age intrigued Gormundr immensely as now in his old age, spent the remainder of his time during the Song Dynasty discovering the secrets of youth. Through years of very difficult training and meditation, he began to slowly achieve the strength and energy of his youth as his body began to resemble him at his prime. However these studies ended in the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty when the Great Khan of Mongol, Kublai Khan, began leading a violent campaign across East Asia, forcing Gormundr to migrate to Korea and then finally to Japan.
Once in Japan, Gormundr began understanding that the culture, language, and styles of combat from this region were vastly different from his regular environment in China, after a few years however he grasped onto these new cultures and began immensely studying Japanese Martial Arts. During this time of the Muromachi Period, posters exist that Gormundr has collected depicting promotional images of himself for sumo tournaments. He was in fantastic competing shape at his age of around 370 at this point but not yet at his fullest potential.
Until his appearance in South America during the 1950's, not much in known about his whereabouts, but what is known is that he traveled a great many distances and studied various martial arts internationally from all over Asia and parts of Europe until taking a break and settling down due to lack of funds. When in South America Gormundr was around the age of 920 and without much money or hope for a future in his current position, yet he worked in the mountains of Colombia as a field laborer as an attempt to get by. Unfortunately this peace would not last long as in the 1970's, the Medellín Cartel seized the farmlands and began using the fields for cocaine production. Realizing the potential for money to be made and a way out of Colombia, he joined in as a hired muscle until escaping service in 1978 to travel to New York.
From around this time, Gormundr traveled around North America and Studied English and the vastly growing American cultures, enjoying his time indulging in music and media throughout the 1980's to the year of 2017 on the Date of February 1st, when everything changed. That day was the day when the Metaverse exploded into existence and so many infinite universes collided into one another. Gormundr had truly no idea why or how this had occurred but wasted no time to begin using portals to explore what the Metaverse had to offer. From this point on he founded Gormundr's Greathall and met people and lifeforms from so many vastly different species and invited them to learn about Earth and it's history, as well as to explore the Metaverse together.
During his travels he encountered people along the lines of Lyra and Silver who joined in on his many adventures until the great split of the guild due to a demonic virus that infected a chunk of members and corrupted them into more ferocious and evil versions of themselves. As well during his travels he developed rivalries with KuriGames , Mr. Brunswick , as well as a few others who were sometimes friendly and unfriendly. However Gormundr was killed on a distant planet while on an adventure in search of a crashed cargo ship alongside KuriGames , after being shot by a matter destroying round by one of the attacking treasure hunters. Upon passing away , Gormundr was able to speak to his friends one last time as a spirit to wish them goodbye, but he didn't rest in peace as he sought strength to fight even in the afterlife. In doing so, his soul had attacked and gained powers that no mortal should have been able to possess as he then began to call himself "Godmundr" in a kind of ironic and boastful gesture. However, deities of the ethereal plane were made aware of this imbalance and trapped Gormundr's soul, which would have been for an eternity had it not been for his friends bringing him back to life using the help of a powerful mage.
This taste of great power caused Gormundr to grow obsessive as he then began to change and lash out at those around him and become more ruthless in his search for strength. One day in this journey Gormundr was defeated by a powerful devil who managed to cause him to submit without doing anything except using his voice. This angered him to no end as he began on a warpath that lead him to the Purple Lotus where he threatened Satchi after hours for information on any patrons who may have had demonic association. After receiving information he preformed a ritual to summon a demon into the mortal realm only to kill it and enter hell using it's portal. Once in this dimension he confronted the demons Konton , Soka , and Lilith as well as a few other who engaged in a fight with him after Gormundr made his intentions clear. On this day he was killed for a second time when Lilith used portals to teleport his limbs off into far reaches of the universe.
Once again the old friends of Gormundr would undertake a long journey to reclaim his body parts and revive him, however they were under the guidance of Godmundr as a soul who had ascended to a state of Deityhood. This amount of power was alarming to his friends who decided to help only after being coerced through fear or lies to reclaim his body parts and revive him. However King Brunswick understood the significance of this threat and set in motion for plans to be made to capture and imprison Gormundr once he was revived. So upon the day of this event when the body parts were gathered, Godmundr has descended back into Gormundr's mortal body and he returned to life, only to be surrounded and captured by Mr. Brunswick and his knights. They brought him through a portal and showed him to a massive prison that he had constructed to hold him indefinitely, and that is where Gormundr remained for 3 months without food, water, or hope of escape.
By the time his friends managed to find him he had already turned feral, without understanding of friend or foe, but only of prey and food. The group that had come to rescue Gormundr didn't immediately understand this as they crossed the gap to the middle of the prison, where they were immediately attacked by him. Nephilim Kuri managed to knock Gormundr out and Lyra, who was also present in the group, teleported them all onto a small, oxygen rich, meteoroid with small lifeforms on it where he Gormundr could've safely remained until they could help him. However after consuming these lifeforms and regaining his strength, he jumped from the surface of the meteoroid down to the surface of Earth while in his "Immovable Form".
From this point on Gormundr was on a rampage and began to cannibalize entire cities. In these slaughters, Gormundr slew several of his former friends who tried to stop him until finally being defeated by Lyra after he used an ancient warhorn called the "Willcaller" which used to be a piece of Gormundr's helmet back in his viking days. Not much is known about how Gormundr managed to come across this ancient Viking relic, but what is known is that when blown, if the user is strong enough, their will shall be instilled upon whatever or whoever it is aimed at, however if the user is not strong enough, their body and soul will be destroyed. Lyra sacrificed herself to stop Gormundr's reign of terror and to destroy his soul so that "Godmundr" would cease to be.
After this sacrifice Gormundr went into hiding in the Himalayan mountains where he used the last of his favors and resources to construct a monastery where he could teach people about mankind's martial arts. He had to remain secretive as he hand selected a group of his old friends to train so that they could pass on his legacy and his teachings. All while this went on, Gormundr lived in shame of his actions and hated himself constantly due to the death of Lyra and those who he killed when feral and mindless. However he slowly regained his humanity as him and his students traveled secretly across Earth and helped people by using their skills to save innocent people and to make enough money to upgrade the school to meet modern day standards.
Unfortunately with new technologies came new risks, and so one day after one of the students was using the main computer terminal located in the heart of the fortress, their presence was detected and a message from an anonymous sender had been received. This message was a warning that the sender was aware of the location of the school and the massive bounty on Gormundr's head, as well as a note to meet the sender in a certain location on a certain date. When the day had arrived Gormundr and a few of his students met with a lady who went by the alias "The Red Queen", an arms manufacturer and dealer who sold weapons and vehicles wholesale to countries across the globe. She explained to Gormundr about how some of the biggest billionaires and corporations on Earth belonged to a secret underground group called "The Trade Association" and settled their larger business arrangements by sending hand selected fighters to face one another in unarmed combat. Without wasting time, an ultimatum was offered, she told him to register a company and join the Association with the intention to win a tournament that would decide the new President of the organization, should Gormundr's group win, he would have to name his blackmailer as the new president.
So, given an empty aircraft carrier and enough money to register, Gormundr and what students that managed to follow him began their journey around the world, preforming cargo shipping jobs and bounty hunting contracts to make ends meet. Business was decent until the weel of the tournament and Gormundr was unprepared to bring forth a fighter, so he contacted his old friend Vengeance Kuri to represent his comany "The High Hall" in the Tournament. The event went on for several days through many rounds of combat but eventually Kuri managed to come out on top, Gormundr kept his promise and named "The Red Queen" as the new president of The Trade Association. In return for his service, she contacted officials in the US government to set up a meeting where Gormundr would then officially be pardoned and a peace treaty would be drafted between himself and the United States of America.
From then on Gormundr focused on rediscovering himself, leading a fulfilling life, and making amends with those he wronged all while establishing The High Hall as a company for people with spectacular abilities to find work. Hero or Villain were accepted to preform contracts across the metaverse wherever they may be needed, and to this day Gormundr continues to fight, grow, and study alongside his now many friends who have helped him put his past behind him through support and acceptance of him and his many flaws.
Trivia[]
- Gormundr (as a character) in RP claims to be training to become the strongest human in the Metaverse, knowing full well that there are many other species that still may be stronger.
- His character has a deep understanding of the human body in order to compete with other humans as well as to unlock his body's full potential, which technically means his ability isn't super strength! Unfortunately this comes at a cost, where Gormundr constantly has to manage his bodily functions such as breathing, digesting, beating of his heart, and circulation of blood.
- Despite him being very slow physically, his strength is immeasurable, he is known to have a special move called "Iron Form" which stops his movement altogether granting him a short period of invincibility by flexing all his cells together as tight as they can.
- He is the cause of Lyra's death during the 'Primal Gormundr Arc' after she sacrificed herself by blowing an ancient warhorn called 'The Willcaller' which instills your will upon whoever you aim it at, yet if you are not strong enough, it destroys you.
- Gormundr has been known to wear 'The Willcaller' on his helmet for nearly all his life until losing it to the Aesir after the 'Primal Gormundr Arc'.
- On 10/31/2020 Gormundr attempted and succeeded in climbing all the way to mars in Climbing Carnival whilst carrying 40 pounds of weight on his wrists.
