Introduction

The Dimensional Postal Service is a casual, light-hearted role play and improv community themed around all things "Postal Service," from delivering packages, letters and more. The group was initially created on July 28th, 2021, as the DPD or Demon Police Department, based on the Finnish Police Service. However, this version existed in name only, with the community later being re-imaged on August 21st, 2021, by the founders Iroh, Gavynandrew, and DerekTM. August 21st, 2021, celebrates the community's official anniversary, as that's when gears began turning on establishing the community with a hub world, core principles, community avatars, essential documentation, discord server overhaul, improved processes, and more.

Philosophy

The Dimensional Postal Service's principal philosophy is engaging in fun, positive interactions, regardless of the participant's affiliation with the Dimensional Postal Service, as long as the interactions stay positive and fun. This ideal is practiced through a cosmopolitan approach to community building in VRChat; the Dimensional Postal Service has actively sought quest-compatibility, encourages cross-community interactions when reasonable, collaborates with other groups on both large and small-scale events and sought to establish a friendly, approachable, and welcoming atmosphere with its interactions on VRChat, Discord, and elsewhere.

Unique Offerings

The Dimensional Postal Service is an ever-evolving community and has several features that help it stand out amongst stiff competition including, but not limited to-

  • Postal/Postal Service Theme.
  • Full Quest Compatibility.
  • Seeks Open, Honest, and Transparent Community Communication.
  • Seeks to Maintain a Competent and Robust Management team.
  • Beginner Friendly Roleplay & Improv.

Partnerships

As a VRChat community, The Dimensional Postal Service doesn't hold opinions on other communities; while its members may hold and voice opinions openly, the community itself is officially neutral or friendly to the best of its ability. To achieve this, the Dimensional Postal Service doesn't form alliances in the traditional political sense, instead opting to curate partnerships with a select few communities.

Each partnership is independent of the other, and at one point, were considered "Open Communication" communities before building a strong relationship with the Dimensional Postal Service over time, often through collaborations or other endeavors. As with Open Communication communities, partnerships must meet or exceed a list of unlisted criteria, though a stricter one that can vary from community to community. If these criteria are met, a community may be considered for partnership; failure to meet the additional criterion will drop a community back to Open Communication status; as long as the Open Communication criteria are met.

The following list is ordered from oldest to newest partnerships.

Open Communications

Communities listed under Open Communication have opened and maintain some degree of communication with the Dimensional Postal Service. While they aren't partnered communities, they may still organize collaborations, be considered for partnership, and more given; the set of unlisted criteria, which can vary from community to community, is continually met to satisfaction.

Previous Communications

Communities listed under "Previous Communications" are groups that used to be either Partnered or Open Communications communities with the Dimensional Postal Service, but either relationship faded over time, were actively dissolved by either party or the community itself closed. This list is principally for historical purposes and doesn't prevent any community listed from pursuing better relations. This list will not include communities that have never been considered Partners nor reached Open Communication status.

The Roleplay & Divisions

In accordance with its philosophy, the Dimensional Postal Service is designed to be casual and approachable to any role player or improver, regardless of experience level. The role-play is interaction focused, and these interactions can be described as improv comedy with options limited only by each player's on-the-spot creativity. The freedom of role-play allows for characters, non-character improvisation, socialization, and more to occur naturally, and each member is encouraged to be creative in their approach and execution rather than trained to follow a template exactly.

There are currently four divisions within the Dimensional Postal Service, each offering a different creative interpretation of the Postal theme and source of unique role-play opportunities. The following tabs provide a brief description of each division and its offerings.

Distribution[]

Distribution is the primary division open to every member who completes their orientation training, accessible after their application to the community is accepted. They are the largest division and focus on delivering packages and managing the office as postal employees. Thematically speaking, they aim to mimic modern-day Postal Workers from the Industrial Revolution to the Information Age; and are present in Delivery and Nightshift events.

Apothecary Guild (UNRELEASED)[]

The Apothecary Guild is available after reaching the rank of Postal Worker and completing Apothecary Guild Orientation. They are a guild of folk and faux medicinal practicing messengers. Their role-play can be described as offering medieval services, named in a "snake oil salesman" fashion, like brewing up shady concoctions on-the-spot with limited or "exceptionally useful" benefits for the prospective buyer. Their emphasis is on making a small profit, and as traveling apothecaries, often alongside an offer to directly deliver messages to other VRChat players alongside a proposition to buy their "useful" wares. Thematically speaking, the Apothecary guild pays homage to Medieval and Renaissance Guilds; and messengers. (Unreleased)

Bureau of Postal Safety (UNRELEASED)[]

The Bureau of Postal Safety is available upon reaching Senior Postal Worker and completing the Bureau of Postal Safety orientation. They are futuristic secret agents with the goal of protecting couriers and the post from illicit mail-based crimes, regardless of severity, and since the future is all mail, that means everything can be labeled as "mail-based crime." Agents of the Bureau of Postal Safety use perfectly legal tactics to complete their assignments, from "re-education," "voluntary restraint," and "REDACTED." Thematically speaking, they are based on the United States Postal Services Postal Inspectors, Men in Black, and topped off with a dystopian techno-future aesthetic. (Unreleased)

Official Events

The Dimensional Postal Services has a variety of weekly events available both within VRChat and Discord. The events are categorized into Primary and Secondary; the former is for trained members of the Dimensional Postal Service, while the latter is open to all present members in Discord. • Priority Route: - Priority Route is an irregularly hosted event without a set schedule. The event is based on the Delivery formula, adding multiple practices and story-based improv scenarios into the mix that allow each route to have its own dedicated "one-shot adventure," where they encounter a case of characters created specifically for the event and story being told.
