Backstory[]
After being born to a railway family in Switzerland, Edward grew up under the wing of his father, learning the trades around his home next to the main line. After graduating, he moved into the resident signal box his father worked in, gaining experience as a signal box assistance and occasionally signaling through trains, as well as developing an ability to quickly send bell codes to adjacent signal boxes. This quickly developed into being able to send telegraphs efficiently. Turning 18, he moved into The Waifu Empire, continuing his role as a telegraphist on the railway until the call for soldiers arose. Conscripted into the Heer, his previous experience with signaling shone him in good light, which allowed him to head into training as a Feldmelder. His Neko ears worry him, not wanting to show off he hides his ears and tail when he can, wanting to be accepted as a normal human. Experience back home has made him wary of showing off these features to anyone, bar a few he trusts.
Sent immediately to the front, he met up with a future friend in Alice Rose Heart, spending time with her on the train and in Konigsberg and Minsk, before being thrown into his first firefight in an ambush. His time in Kiew allowed him to meet plenty of new faces, with Giuseppe becoming a guiding figure for him, slowly gaining confidence in his place in the Heer. Deployed to assist with the construction of a new Fliegerhorst, a relatively uneventful deployment, his return and events within the barracks lead to a slight paranoid tendency, however he hides this during his day-to-day duties through being happy with a curiosity to learn from others. After being granted leave to Berlin, his friendship with Alice came to a head with her confession to him, and whilst he is uncomfortable and unsure about it, he feels attached, enjoying her company and baking. Having seen half the barracks and her leave one day for places unknown, he keeps in contact with her via letter, expectant and happy when he sees a letter in his room.
