Who is Emanuel Cortez?[]

Emanuel Cortez is a human fire student of Ascension Academy. He transferred from the magic academy Geo Magic Arts and was one of the envoys that visited Ascension Academy before the Cross Core Competition.

History[]

Cortez hails from an established hunter family, and the Harts are the closest ties they have, the hunter business is a dangerous one and cooperation was key to surviving in days of olde.

Born into a wealthy, well established, house has always been a detriment more than a boon, people would treat him a certain way or cater to him looking for an in to the family name or it’s business. This led him to distrust those who did not stand with him on the battlefield or funding his family before he took the mantle of hunter. His family was often tasked with protection of local trade routes and the like, so he was able to travel, get his job done, take his pay and return to his studies in the estate separate from his family's main house.

He does not wear the Hunter title for his own gain or purpose, he has to keep it. Otherwise his father will have the next in line to become the house hunter, Cortez’s sister.

The real story is not the lie he tells others it's the one he tells himself, he will use fake friendship always keeping others at a distance to not grow attached (Only Hannah and few students so far), But at his core he wants to feel wanted apart from his name. This is his chance to grow and learn from others, the lie can only last so long.

In order to change his life for the better, Cortez must find a way to change the years of hunting, beatings, and his fathers influence, into learning and growth.

Cross Core Competition[]

Duels[]

After putting his name on the goblet of fire and water Cortez was drafted to fight against AA students. Poetically enough he was drafted for 3 fights with non-humans. His first fight is against half lycan Lila Fang, the second one against the turned vampire Lianda and the last one against pure blood vampire Victor Heinrich.

Duel against Lila[]

As a hunter knowledgeable of lycans he prepared his tools to fight against Lila. He got some Wolfsbane, a silver blade and silver bullets. During the duel he used his special gun to keep distance with Lila and his silver blade coated with wolfsbane, and although the fight didn't give away a clear winner the judges decided that Lila won the fight giving the point to Ascension Academy.

Duel against Lianda[]

In the fourth round of the duels Cortez went against Lianda. Cortez used only his magic gun and his silver tipped blade. The duel started with an aggressive Lianda showing her swordplay but after a few minutes Cortez managed to defeat her by catching her by the back and impaling his blade in her chest leaving her incapacitated.

Powers & Abilities[]

Mana Revolver: Soul bound summon, fires condensed fireball blasts that detonate on hit
Rending Blade: Silvered blade made to tear flesh and cause the target to bleed out over time the more they move.
Element Blade: Can light his blade aflame burning through defensive spells over time while dealing fire damage. (Deals a bit extra to defensive spells like a blowtorch)
Great Flame Blade: Pours mana into the blade to make it into a powerful greatsword.
Burnout: A ring of flames constantly bursts out from around him coating the area in magical fire, burning anyone who steps inside, being directly next to him is a safe area, still hot though
Vitalizing Flame - Light Magic flows through his flames and gives Cortez a healing second wind of strength and speed. His fire and light synchronize and will not hurt him temporarily.
Hunters Light - Light magic pulses outward a great distance and locks on to targets for Cortez, giving him insight and tracking of his prey. Easier to strike vital points.
