About the Bards[]
"In the end we're all defined by the trust we put in others to remember who we are, and were, because that's the part that always outlives us." ― Ebb
Ebb and Flo are an eccentric pair of twin Glamour Bards that share a body. Initially born and raised as normal humans in separate bodies in the port city of Waterdeep (the Sword Coast/Western Faerûn), they eventually were taken to the Feywilds to learn bardic magicks and there became literally inseparable. The two switch places by physically shifting their form (usually without forewarning), causing occasional confusion given the drastic change between Florisa's obviously childlike appearance and Ebberine's full adult frame, and seemingly mentally converse with each other and share experiences no matter who is "active" at the time. The twins lived down the road from the Lying Fork Inn with a middle-aged seamstress they call "Miss Lina" (NPC) who gave them room and board in exchange for enhancing her business during the day with magical laundering and mending services before eventually moving into the Misty Shore guild dorms. At night they worked at the Lying Fork as managers as well as performed as bardic musicians in order to gather the extra funds needed to adventure and eventually achieve their longstanding dream of becoming legendary heroes together, then helped to found the talent agency Bardic Circle with Ludric to allow more space for the talents they saw all around them.
Unfortunately managing an inn and running a talent agency was very different from their promised dream. As they grew into the Metaverse, they found more and more that the Metaverse as it was currently would not support their dream in the long term. A great number of losses -- loss of friends, loss of the first step towards their dream (The Misty Shore guild), loss of trust -- led them to choose to return to Faerûn to get back to their roots and perhaps finally deal with some skeletons in their closet they had been running from.
Appearance[]
Despite the child and adult bodies it's very easy to tell that the twins would have probably been identical if they'd aged at the same rate. They don't have magical clothing and instead put together an outfit that doesn't hinder either of them, including a sleeveless dress, a unique set of sandals with easily-adjusted straps and soles, and an adjustable harness-like leather vest with shoulder guards and pouches in place of a belt that just hangs looser on Florisa rather than potentially falling down and off. They use intangible illusion magic/"glamours" to give the appearance of different outfits.
Personality[]
The twins were taught in the Feywilds for an inordinate amount of time (especially Florisa, who has an enthusiastically childlike curiosity about new concepts as they come to her), but are obvious extroverts and enjoy making new friends, learning about the world from them, and occasionally imparting the unique (and often inappropriate) wisdom of their bardic teacher. Ebberine tends to be the more mature, polite and softspoken of the two, while Florisa is louder and more energetic, bubbly, and frank.
Special Abilities[]
Bardic Magic/Bardic Inspiration: The twins have the ability to Inspire others towards success, and can cast a variety of support magics via music (usually singing or humming), with thier main affinities being the enchantment/charm/mind manipulation magic predominantly used by fey given their glamour focus and illusions (which they mostly use during singing performances to add vocal harmonies and sometimes extra instrumental sounds they wouldn't be able to create otherwise). The illusions are the only way they're able to sing together while being in one body, and they won't perform 'solo'. While it's not their specific affinity, they've also gained a lot of experience as magical healers and tend to take on that role most often on missions.
Grand Mage Magic: After going through a ritual with Zabson in June of 2421, they have a second mana pool and access to spells normally outside the realm of their bardic nature such as Magic Missile and Druidcraft.
Animal Friendship: Both sisters can speak with animals via their magic but, like Disney princesses, tend to actually befriend them through force of charisma alone rather than magical influence. Flo usually tells the tales of making friends with many a beast, including "Squeaks the Mighty" (a "rabbit with a tragic backstory and desire for vengeance"), and an owlbear named "Winnie the Hoot".
"Ebb's Anti-Lie Powers": Florisa has stated that people "can lie to [her], but they can't lie to Sister", though it's currently unknown whether this is actually a real special ability, just an extension of people tending to tell white lies to children to protect them vs Ebberine being an adult with a disarming presence, or just Flo exaggerating.
Trivia[]
- The sisters' original "teacher" is said to be a (seemingly extremely kinky and debaucherous) satyr of the Summer Court named Cyrellus, though despite a stereotypical lecherous nature he apparently believes highly in consent and has imparted this wisdom to Ebb and Flo to the point where they frequently explain that "Consent is important!"
- Ebberine has dolefully stated that Florisa's appearance seems much younger than her's despite being twins because Flo entered the Feywild before she did, and with the unique passage of time in that specific plane, 6 months for Florisa turned into 13 years for Ebberine.
- [OOC] Florisa and Ebberine were initially created by Flint as a PC for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, and use the Glamour Bard subclass.
