Bernard is a recent addition to the Undercity and has been hiring himself out as hired muscle. With no history in Salvation City besides a sentence in a downtown prison, Bernie is looking to survive long enough to figure out what his future looks like.[1]

Origin[]
Not much of Bernard's backstory has been revealed in character at time of writing, however he has disclosed that he grew up on an all-human factory world where magic had not yet manifested and is trained as a synth mechanic.
According to Bernie in Episode 1, he was flown down to serve a prison sentence on Hellion after he vandalized a vending machine on a Traverse interstellar voyage. He was initially fascinated by his Undercity neighbors, having never seen many of their species nor had he encountered magic before.

Frequently, Bernie addresses "lads" that appear as different voices within his head. He speaks aloud to do so, and occasionally turns to address empty space as if there was someone there.
Trivia[]
- The character Bernard is reminiscent of a seemingly average British bloke dropped into a strange magical world. Narrating his thoughts and bewilderment through inner monologue his origin remains a mystery.
